The outreach is considered one of the most successful tools and methods in order to reach the marginalized categories of people that are daily exposed to stigmatization and discrimination, and are therefore more exposed to the danger of sexually transmitted diseases and health problems, due to the obstacles these categories face when it comes to having access to information and medical care. For this reason, the outreach is considered efficient in order to reach these categories and offer different kinds of assistance, especially the awareness, orientation, and referral services. |

“STI/HIV/AIDS Outreach Awareness among Vulnerable Groups in Lebanon” Developed with the support of Drosos foundation, with the coordination of the NAP in partnership with a group of NGOs- 2008- 2009 It’s our field: 10 years of lessons learned and more to come To prevent the spread of STIs/HIV/AIDS among the Most At Risk Population (MARP) more precisely Men having Sex with Men (MSM), Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) and Female Sex Workers (FSWs) through changing their risk behaviors; the Soins Infirmiers et Développment Communautaire (SIDC)-Lebanon started its experience in the field of outreach work in 1997 addressing these groups. In 1999, as cases of HIV/AIDS in Lebanon kept on the rise, the need was felt by SIDC working team to address youth, hard to reach, marginalized and vulnerable groups with prevention efforts. Thus, SIDC started its experience in the outreach work in the course of a study that was implemented with the St Joseph University in the poor areas in Great Beirut and SIDC was responsible of the site at Sin el fil and Nabaa. |
