IHRA's 20th International Conference on Harm Reduction Day 2
Plenty of concurrent sessions were held in the second day of the Conference on interesting topics that were presented by people from Asia, Europe, UN agencies and International Networks and Associations on Harm Reduction. The topics of the session were on: Poverty, marginalization and Drug Use, Alcohol policy and Social Marketing, Pharmaceutical Opioid Use, Prisons and Closed settings, Sex work and Substance Use, in addition to workshops tackling harm Reduction issues. Also plenty of short movies were showing experiences from Asia, USA, UK, Iran, Canada and other countries involved in implementing Harm Reduction. An important number of Posters presentations were conducted on studies on the topic of the conference that they were posted all over the two floors of the Conference location.
The second MENAHRA meeting: A second meeting with the Organizations on harm reduction from the MENA region was organized by MENAHRA, which objectives were: • Achievements and expectations from the MENAHRA. • Feedback on the Conference related to activities on HR in the MENA. 18 Participants were attending from Lebanon, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, in addition to international organizations as the WHO/EMRO, Drosos foundation, MDM. The topics discussed to meet the objectives were the following: The situation of Drugs policies within their countries and their issues, the family and social context as an important factor in approaching drug users for Harm Reduction, the importance of participating to the Knowledge hubs workshops and to involve more the drug users in implementing HR in the MENA and the communication tools among participants. |
