The Middle East and North Africa Harm Reduction Association (MENAHRA) conducted a regional workshop on “Integrating Gender Specific Services to Harm Reduction Programs in the MENA Region” that was held from 1 to 4 September 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel – Beirut, Lebanon.
The meeting was comprised of participants from 10 countries in the MENA region (Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, and Tunisia).
This workshop provided CSOs and partners from the region with a forum in which to discuss their experiences, raise their key concerns, and outline the gaps in service provision for WIDUs. As a result of this workshop, a manual on Integrating Gender Specific Services to Harm Reduction Programs in the MENA Region will be developed. This manual will include a compilation of the recommendations from the Operational Research on WIDU (MENAHRA 2012) as well as feedback from this workshop.
At the end of the workshop a dialogue on was conducted on the MENAHRA-RANAA Global Fund – New Funding Model – Concept Note Development with the participants.
