MENAHRA is seeking a Part-Time Research Assistant for a Study Research Assistant for all research activities within Egypt related to the Unitaid Hepatitis C project.

This role is part of a larger multi-component Unitaid-funded four-year project on HCV prevention among key populations (specifically PWUD) with the overall goal of facilitating the introduction of innovative and under-used products for the prevention of HCV infection, and demonstrating integration of HCV prevention, testing and treatment in harm reduction services within community settings. While highly effective products to prevent and cure HCV in harm reduction settings exist, their availability and uptake in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are limited due to affordability, supply, delivery, demand, and adoption barriers. The research studies will be implemented on Long-Acting Depot Buprenorphine (LADB), Low Dead Space Syringes and Needles (LDSS/N), and HCV testing and treatment.

Frontline AIDS is Leading this research project in the region, and MENAHRA is leading the implementation in Egypt.

In Egypt, MENAHRA is working closely with the government, local partners, and vulnerable communities to design an appropriate research implementation structure and strategy that complements ongoing efforts in HCV and HIV programming within the existing frameworks of the Ministry of Health. The Research Assistant will support the implementation of a national research study in Egypt by focusing primarily on data collection, cleaning, management, and reporting. The role also includes supporting logistical and operational aspects of the study. The Research Assistant will work closely with the Research Coordinator and local implementing partners to ensure the quality and integrity of data collected from various implementation sites.

Duties and Functions

  • Assist in collecting data from implementing sites and partners according to study protocols and timelines.
  • Enter, clean, and validate data using standard tools and templates.
  • Conduct Focus Group Discussions and interviews, followed by data cleaning and reporting
  • Organize and maintain data files in a secure and structured manner.
  • Ensure data completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Document and report challenges, best practices, and lessons learned from the field.
  • Support communication and coordination between MENAHRA, research partners, and field teams regarding data-related needs.

Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in data collection, cleaning, and reporting, preferably in public health or research settings.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry tools
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel to implementation sites when required.
  • Ability to work with different stakeholders, e.g.: sub-grantees, government stakeholders, national and international stakeholders.
  • Experience in similar project coordination.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative studies (mixed methods) is recommended.
  • Good under pressure – monitoring timelines and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent management and coordination skills
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills.

Languages

Arabic and English are required for this role.
